I prefer the fact we get stocked up with presents as soon as the event is over so we can run around aimlessly.
(remember, most other events just gave you the hat then let you fight others for presents, this one gave you presents and a hat (and a minipet xD) then let you actually run around having a fun time)

Yeah that part wasn't good, but at least we were doing something for a reason. I mean with the pig you're just chasing him around for nothing, I mean nothing is against you and nothing is for you..I guess I just don't find that as entertaining.

i think that this event is special because of the minipet giveaway.
sadly, the reason i think that people feel bad is because of the minipet giveaway too.
honestly, i love the mini pig, and i dont care if a lot of people have them or not. its actually the only reason i participated in the event in the first place.
i spent some time doing the quests, and seeing how hard it is to get one from fortunes, i just sold them off, and used the money i made to buy the pig.
imo, lets just be thankful that they gave away a minipet in an event and not just a hat. its not like we got riped off by anet anyway

That doesn't change the fact that nobody has a right to demand these events and nobody has to pay extra for them. Therefore they are free.
If you don't like them, don't participate. If you do, enjoy them

Hey,
he very right. If it's free, it's a good thing. nothing wrong with it..

I hate how people complaim about the pig. "OMG, I spent 100k on fortunes to get a Pig and you get one for free from the Celestial Pig" Well wtf, why don't you wait to buy something instead of buying the pig the first day. During every event whatever you need to collect always goes for like 500 gold then that last day it is like 50 gold. Same thing with the pig(except is wasn't collected for something) the first day it was going for 30kish. Now you can get one for like 2k. I learned this during the Dragon Festival. The night before, Jade Wind Orbs where dropping from the Mantid guys. I farmed them and sold the Orbs for like 300 each. The next day there were quests that gave them out by the hundreds.
So stop complaining and being so damn impatient. Wait until later in the event to buy the collectables/MiniPets/etc...
Well I hope not everybody listens to that. I am enjoying the 75k I made from selling two Pigs.

When Anet read posts like this it must make them wonder why they bother. Fact is, they didn't have to do ANYTHING and went to a lot of trouble to make the game more enjoyable. If you don't like what they do in these events, then dont take part. As mentioned it's a free extra and not part of any obligation they have to us for the original purchase.

I guess it is all about attitude.
1. I worked my a$$ off for all the items, and now that afk idiot gets the same rewards.
2. I worked my a$$ off for all the items, and now I have a chance to ensure the entire dist. gets the rewards.

I didn't read the entire thread (Bit long ^^), but I would like to give my opinion. I spent a long time farming all the ingredients (all except unctuous remains) but I read the Events page and KNEW that the reward was not going to be anything more than a few tokens. I farmed these because it was AWSOME, it made me visit places I haven't been in months! It made me think of ways to farm new things (I even found new things that I can solo!).
The way the chefs are set up makes you go all over the world getting the items, while this may be considered Grinding (Not sure) I find it fun and it is better than going on a quest and having to just walk outside, and talk to this guy to get this.
The farming was great, you had to think OUTSIDE the box, no green arrows or quest descriptions to guide you. I had to wiki almost every ingredient I had to find the monsters location and skills.
Roller beetles were a blast! I knew before the event even started that I would never get into the top 100, but I accepted it and had a GREAT time racing people (My record is 450,XXX and 3 wins in a row). The ending was a little boring but I don't find it "bad" that everyone got a pig, although the req of each dist was a little much, you still got a mask and gifts.
Start looking at the glass half full
Edit: Agreed with the above poster, I'm with the #2, I was in a district who was missing Ebon Spider Webs, so I told them I would go try to get some. I farmed for ~30min and cleared all the lava spitters, but it was time for the event again and I didn't have any webs but hey it is the thought that counts.

Personally, I kinda agree. Now I didn't "earn" my mini-pet, I received 4 of them via my district completing all the meals. I wasn't expecting to get one and though I wanted one its kinda meaningless now. I didn't do any of the chef things but I can understand that 1 token is a bit of a joke for an hour of farming or how ever long it took people to get those.
Rollerbeetle Racing needs and hopefully is left in the game after the event. What it needs is more "maps" not just the same ol' track. Make new course and keep scores for each track. Rewards could be 100g for coming in first and scale down from there. If you break a record maybe get a corresponding reward for how high the record was? Its actually a fun "sub-game" and I think it should stay. I kinda think they will keep it in as the records guy keeps track of monthly and quarterly scores, but maybe they just got lazy and did the ol' copy and paste for that NPC.

Well said!
The reason they bother is IMO http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10120527
I know the pissing and moaning posts outnumber these by along shot but this is perhaps what they were shooting for.
@Hell Raiser; It's great that you had fun with this To bad more people don't have this kind of spirit about playing a game that most people I know play to have fun.

the fact that fortunes give you red bean cakes proves you can get things for sweet tooth. also ive about like 200k from this event alone. no thats not why this event is great its great because of the pigy hehe and the hat and the rollerbeetle and generally everything

I'm betting that the minipig reward wont be handed out as often now that some of the farmers who got the items have given up.

I'm saying that some people use these events to have fun doing something different and maybe, just maybe doing something nice for some of the other people in the game and I have no doubt that Anet loves seeing this type of thing happen.
While on the other hand some people use these events to bitch moan and trash Anet for whatever conceived misfortune they believe to have befallen them,or in some cases just another reason to post links to WoW. (not intended at anyone specific)

What a bunch of ungrateful little brats!
and NO they didn't have to do this...You pay 50.00 for Super Mario too and get NOTHING and yet people continue to replay it.
For those of you that can't handle change or can't just say thank you for an event...go Play Super Mario.

For all those people who went out and enjoyed the event, good on you! I enjoyed it immensely! Even though I sucked at the few games of rollerbeetles I played, it was still fun. I spent two days gathering tokens from all my various chars to get a pig, and was immensely satisfied when I got given one for free. I would have done farming for the chefs, but I don't have access to most of the areas (deleted my Canthan character awhile back and haven't played prophecies for ages, so I'm not that far in the game).
To all those of you who are complaining that everyone gets the same rewards from this event... I pity you. You guys mustn't have much of an outlook on life if you're complaining about a thing like this. Go out and enjoy the brightly coloured explosions in the sky, have fun chasing the pig, even though it's pointless (I took many screenshots, simply because I enjoyed it). Rejoice that everyone now has a little pig, and some people have more (I have six, and hopefully will get more. Planning on giving some out to guildies that miss out, and then save some in case prices ever go up again).
And if that's not enough. If you really can't have fun with a special event without earning a bit of dosh, take comfort in the fact that eventually the prices will rise for these items. Sell your red bags, things that you open to get stuff are immensely popular, especially since they're a good way to get a few sugary treats for the sweet tooth title.
And if none of what I've said interests you, or those categories don't apply, don't come to the event. They're designed to bring players together and let them have a bit of fun. Maybe you should kick those big heavy shoes off and relax a little. After all, it's what these events are put on for.

Very bad analogy. You can't compare the value of a console game to the value of an online game. That's a complete apples:: oranges comparison; it's even worse than a GW::WoW comparison!

I am disappointed that the Chefs only give 1 token for each item that you give them. I spent hours trying to get a darned Kraken Eye. 1 token is pathetic but oh well I guess.
About the mini pig...I find it funny that people like the OP rushed out and spent a small fortune on tokens to try and get one and then Anet gives them out at the end of the event. It should teach a lesson in having patience and not always being the "first" to have a new thing.
All in all the event was fun and I had a good time. I met and talked to loads of people in the USA districts and more so in the International districts. Lots of fun! I for fone think it DOES bring the community together.

i am happy for once, that everyone [with factions] has had a chance to get a minipet
i spent my whole weekend doing those festival quests on every one of my characters and still didn't recieve a minipet pig from a fortune.
i was very happy to recieve one at the end of a successful feast [which i contributed to...]
personally, i dont see the problem. there just seems to be whiners because they cannot milk the event for their own gain. boo hoo. woe is you. go see Guwon the Wise for a better fortune.
thank you very much ANet for a splendid event.

Howdy,
For those who need a piggy, the Gaelic Storm alliance is hosting the piggy-fest in District 112. We're on the American side, so if you're Euro, you'll need to hop over to catch the fun.
We'll be providing all the items, and will even be shooting off a popper or two.
Hope to see you there.
PS: Best. Event. Ever.
PPS: As of right now, it's pretty empty, so if you don't make it in.. wow. :O
